Project Title:

Public and Cultural Diplomacy in China (EU POP China)

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This position is part of a broader EU public diplomacy and outreach project in China, which seeks to build a more favorable environment for EU-China dialogues and strengthen bilateral relations. The project focuses on promoting the EU's values, policies, and principles through cultural and academic exchanges, engaging with Chinese stakeholders, and fostering long-term partnerships. Through a mix of social media, digital content, and public diplomacy activities, the project aims to improve the EU’s image and credibility, particularly among Chinese youth, opinion leaders, and cultural institutions.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

- Bachelor’s degree in communications, digital media, international relations, or a related field.

- Strong understanding and interest of the Chinese social trends and audience segmentation.

- Good soft skills such as communication both online and in-person, general understanding of the organization and administrative procedures in local lands

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Mandarin.

- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment and adapt to changing priorities.

- Creativity in designing engaging content and campaigns tailored to specific audiences.

- Proficiency in digital content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite, etc.).


GENERAL PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

- At least 3 years of professional experience in content creation and  public relations, ideally within a cultural diplomacy or international organization setting.

SPECIFIC PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

- Experience in event operation, communicate with clients, partners, vendors, and contractors.

- Familiar with digital marketing tools and social media platforms in the Chinese market (Weibo, WeChat, Douyin, etc.).


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Communication and Creative Content Management:

- Collaborate with other team member to develop effective communication material, create, manage and translate high-quality, engaging content for  the project targeting key Chinese audiences, especially youththe project.

- Craft messages that reflect EU policies, values, and priorities tailored to resonate with Chinese audiences.

- Monitor social  trends in China to identify opportunities to increase engagement and visibility.

Event Management:

- Plan, organize, and execute both in-person and online public diplomacy and cultural events, including conferences, lectures, workshops, cultural festivals, and networking sessions.

- Handle event logistics such as venue selection, coordination with speakers, managing participant lists, and securing all necessary technical equipment.

- Work closely with local partners, stakeholders, and EU Member States’ cultural institutes to ensure collaboration and resource sharing in event planning and execution.

- Ensure the EU’s visual identity is properly represented at events through promotional materials, signage, and branding.

- Provide on-site support during events, including managing registration, coordinating with vendors, and troubleshooting any issues that arise.

- Assist in post-event activities such as gathering feedback, analyzing event success, and reporting on outcomes to measure impact and engagement.

Monitoring & Reporting:

- Track and analyze the performance of digital campaigns, providing regular reports and recommendations for future actions.


The position is open to Chinese Nationals or candidates holding a Chinese working visa.
